Find Madeleine update - Message from Kate & Gerry McCann

This month marks our fourth Christmas without Madeleine. We hope with all our hearts that wherever she is, she is safe and well and whoever may be with her is treating her with the love and respect she so deserves.

We would like to thank all our supporters for 'staying at our side' in spite of the injustices that we continue to be subjected to. Madeleine is the person who suffers most from all of this injustice. It is this fact alone which causes us the most distress. It is absolutely heart-breaking.

The Wikileaks 'news' this week has led to the repetition of many unfounded allegations and smears both in the UK and in Portugal in particular. This has been seized on as an opportunity by those who wish to compound our suffering and hamper our efforts, including the very person who was entrusted with finding our daughter. Those who could help Madeleine but choose to do nothing are also complicit in this injustice. Without the love and help from so many good people around the world we would not be able to find the strength to continue the fight to find our daughter.

Thank you to all those who have signed our petition calling on the UK and Portuguese Governments to conduct an independent review of Madeleine's case. The petition is still on-going. If you haven't signed and would like to further the search for Madeleine, please sign our on-line petition or sign a paper petition form. The latter can be downloaded from the website and distributed to shops, post-offices etc. and returned to us.

Along with our family, we would like to thank everyone who has sent us Christmas cards, letters, donations and gifts at this difficult time of year. It is impossible to find enough positive words to describe such kindness or the hugely important and heart-warming effect it has on us. Without any doubt, it helps us immensely and we are incredibly grateful.

We wish you all a merry Christmas and a very happy, healthy and positive 2011. Please remember to spare a thought and a prayer for all the children who will not be with their families this Christmas.

This is beyond belief.

THEY say she is with a Paedo**** gang, and have said so for many years.
Their prime detective says she is in a "Hellish Lair", and has held onto this view despite going to Australia to check up on another "strong lead"
Everyone else on the planet with a working cerebellum knows she is dead.

At least they have the decency to thank the people who are still sending "donations and gifts". Let us hope these appear as such in the accounts for 2011.

We are sparing lots of thought for a little girl who has not been with her family for the last four years. Lots of thought. Most of it intelligent and detached and disinterested, in the proper sense of that word.
That is why we are still here, when you hoped we would have gone away and concluded that Madeleine was abducted by a man, or a woman travelling East, or possibly West, either wrapped, or not wrapped in a blanket by a man, or possibly a woman, with pimples, or a moustache, or no face, or long hair, or short hair, who was 5'7 or possibly 5'11, or European or possibly ....- ( sorry, I have just lost the will to live.)

But I particularly like "Those who could help Madeleine but choose to do nothing are also complicit in this injustice. "
Does that not include the parents, who could have helped Madeleine, by not leaving her alone in an unlocked apartment in a small town in a foreign country well known for its gangs of gypsies and predatory paedo****, (ALL according to them, you understand, not to anyone who has actually been to the Algarve, or who owns property there)

Excellent post PeterMac. I just wonder why they are now "fighting" to find their daughter. Where does fight come into it? You don't have to have a fight to look for something that is missing. You just go to the place you lost it and - look.

Does their new team of crack P.I.'s have scrums on the front at PDL? I can well imagine Edgar with his huge hands having a bout of fisticuffs while he "fights" to find Maddie.

I think it really is becoming a battle for them trying to get people to still believe the codswallop they have been trotting out for the last 3+ years. Maybe that is the type of fight they mean.

Er, PeterMac, just to remind you that the very latest theory is that paedophile Raymond Hewlett was having a natter one evening to a leader of a gypsy gang on the Iberian Peninsula somewhere. They had both had a lot of alcohol at the time of the chat (as tends to happen, so I'm told, when gypsy gang leaders get together with serial paedophiles. The gang was on the lookout for suitable white girls for wealthy middle-class African families. So Madeleine could be happily living with a family and going to primary school in Timbuktu or Ougadougou. Or Addis Ababa. Hewlett was considerate enough to disclose this information (well, not the name of the gypsy gang leader or where Madeleine was taken) in a letter written on his deathbed to his son in Telford who hated his guts and from whom he had been estranged for 25 years. A bloke - someone...name not known - took this letter all the way from the hospital where Hewlett died in Germany in December to Telford. Must have cost him a few bob, maybe he got the money from Hewlett's estate? Hewlett's son - Wayne by the way - was rather upset with this letter and, of course (as you do with these things) burnt it. After burning it, he thought it would really be a great idea to tell the McCanns about this information. The McCanns thought it would be a great idea to tell 'The Sun'.

And that's how I know all this. 'The Sun' informed me in September *.

So they hope she's in a palace treated like a princess, no wonder they didn't want the case reopened.
Yet everyone else got blamed because they didn't have Maddie back for Christmas.
Well the dogs found her, what do they want to do about that?

Hmmm, I think if you looked at Goncalo Amaral's job description, it would be something like: "To conduct a full, fearless and impartial investigation into the facts surrounding any crime and to bring those responsible to justice".

By the way, I see barely concealed fury in this year's Christmas message from the McCanns, with comtempt for Goncalo Amaral so great that they cannot even mention his name.

It strongly suggests that the unbanning of 'The Truth About A Lie' and the Wikileaks reference to the British police actively suspecting that they covered up what really happened to their daughter have combined to have a profoundly depressing effect on the McCanns this Christmas. The perpetual fear of what might be revealed next or of what unexpected twists and turns there may be must take its toll somewhere.

But then there are the book receipts to look forward to, on top of the handsome advance they will have received already.

Big fall in income for Kate and Gerry McCanns' search fund

Kate and Gerry McCann's fund to help find their missing daughter, Madeleine, saw income drop by almost 65 per cent last year.
The amount raised for the cause fell from £629,181 in 2008-9 to £233,099 in 2009-10, newly-published accounts filed to Companies House show.

More than £421,000 was spent on the campaign to locate Madeleine and merchandise costs last year, leaving
the balance standing at £470,034 at the end of March.

The McCanns spoke last month of their fears that the dwindling of the fund would leave them unable to continue paying private detectives to search for their daughter.

Since then they have signed a lucrative deal to write a book about Madeleine's disappearance, with all proceeds going to the fund.

Madeleine's Fund was launched a fortnight after the little girl vanished from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, southern Portugal, on 3 May, 2007.

Donations flooded in from supporters around the world who wanted to do something to help her parents, and the income for 2007-8 totalled £1,846,178.

The fund's directors wrote in a preface to the 2009-10 accounts: "Income in the new financial year is lower than last year and we continue to review all our expenses to ensure value for money. As anticipated, the costs of the search during the year continue to be higher than the annual income."

It is because the McCanns didn't treat Madeleine with the love and respect she deserved, that she is no longer with them and may no longer be alive.

Shame on the members of public who are still donating to the fund and sending the McCanns Christmas cards. Always assuming they are receiving donations and Christmas cards from members of the public.

Did anyone else notice the word "Income"?

So donation is considered Income for the mccanns?
I am surprised this income continued to be received beyond 2007. One would have thought 2008 is the limit. How much longer are the public going to continue to give to a useless cause.
Don't they listen to the mccanns saying no police force is searching, Don't they ask themselves why?

Besides, with the case being so high profile, do people think her abductor (if there is one) would keep her alive. Must be some saintly abductor who got her.

On top of which, they are not down and out. They live very comfortably and show no sign of downgrading to fund the search themselves. Why should they expect children and pensioners to fund them? And why did people continue to be guillable? I mean even if people believe she is missing and still alive waiting to be found, then surely people can see that the the parents or extended family did nothing to contribute their own money to the search. They are always milking the public and no other missing child parents behaved that way and most of them much worst off than the mccanns financially.

Hey, blimey heck by thanking those 'staying at our side' they are conceding there is 'the other side of the story'. This is the most telling and heartfelt heartache for them that Amaral wont go away and their libel is looming, and the prospect of losing is 'absolutely heart-breaking' for them because their reputation would end up sweeping the floor again.

That para wasnt about Maddie but about how pissed off the whole other theory refuses to go away or go they way. God's stratagem and providence are always going to outweight theirs....

It is because the McCanns didn't treat Madeleine with the love and respect she deserved, that she is no longer with them and may no longer be alive.

I am disgusted that Tony Bennett has edited part of my post, there was nothing in my post, that hasn't been said by me or other posters on this forum and there was nothing in my post that was libelous. Just whose side are you on Tony? I am on the side of Madeleine and the text you took out of my post, shows to me that you are leaning on the side of the McCanns.

I can't understand why you would be disgusted with Tony. I am not speaking for Tony but I will just say, that I have to agree with him on this. I saw the part he edited and was shocked that you would write that. I was going to edit it myself, but got called away from computer and sidetracked and then by the time I returned the posts had moved on and I forgot, so Tony edited it. I will leave it at that, and let Tony reply.

Was it because I called the McCanns jail dodgers and said they should be languishing in jail? I am not the only person who says the McCanns should have been prosecuted, and in prison. Goncalo Amaral said the PJ wanted to prosecute the McCanns.

KathyBelle, I have given my reasons for editing out a couple of phrases you used in a 'pm' to you. I decided that I would remove the whole paragraph. Incidentally foul language is not tolerated here either and on occasion I and other Mods & Admin have edited that out as well.

You made a typo. It is Goncalo Amaral.

If you look at my other posts regarding Goncalo Amaral, you will see that I spelt his name correctly on those occasions. Anyway I thought it was rude to pick up on someones spelling mistakes. Have you ever made a spelling mistake with someone's name?

By the way I once spelt Goncalo Amaral's surname as Amoral on the Joana Morais forum. I apologised in a later post and Joana was gracious enough to accept my apology. She understood that I was writing from my heart, when I made the post and although I spelt Dr Amaral's surname wrong, there was nothing in my post that was offensive to him or anyone else.
