McCann - is now a substitute for the Bogeyman in Portugal
http://factosdetreino.wordpress.com/2014/08/22/se-nao-te-portas-bem-chamo-os-mccann/
Se não te portas bem, chamo os McCann…
If you don't behave I am calling the McCanns
Alguém tem o “Caso Maddie” em DVD!? Está na hora de explicar a estes miúdos que a paciência tem limites.
Does anyone have the Maddie Case on DVD. It is time to explain to these brats that patience has its limits
Os Mccann são bons substitutos para o bicho papão.
-Não vás para aí que podem aparecer os Mccann.
"The Mccann are good substitutes for the bogeyman.
-Don't go there or you will see the Mccanns.'
to which the comment was
Excelente ideia factos e ainda por cima, bem mais realista
'Excellent idea facts and moreover, far more realistic"

Whilst I am not 'disgusted' it's neither clever or funny and adds nothing...........to anything

Re: McCann - is now a substitute for the Bogeyman in Portugal
I think it is the Portuguese who are disgusted by the whole thing.
The suggestion that their own Police are Third world
The suggestion that they have no laws against paedo****
The suggestion that their legal system can been subverted by a foreign power.
As those quotes show, they are not amused, and are not deceived.

Re: McCann - is now a substitute for the Bogeyman in Portugal
The feeling of the Portuguese people is obvious.
Let's hope they will not be betrayed by their government being either intimidated or too apathetic to be truly engaged in the search for proof. I hope the PJ reinvestigation is real and instructed for genuine reasons, not as a chin-chuck to the British to aid theirs.
The Portuguese people join the queue for justice alongside Madeleine, Goncalo and those all adversely affected by this farce. Please let their own government and police be fighting alongside them.

I guess people have their own ways of dealing with what they perceive to be the injustices about this case. For us it's endless, fruitless discussion on a forum; for the people of Luz a slightly sick joke might be a way of letting out a bit of frustration. After all, they seem to be sick to death of the McCanns and the yearly spotlight on what is otherwise a sleepy, idyllic, little resort, yet for the last few years Luz has become the focus for this 'game'. I'm not shocked by what Peter Mac posted at all, and think it adds to the discussion by showing how people feel over there. In my opinion. Allegedly. Etc.

Re: McCann - is now a substitute for the Bogeyman in Portugal
And as we see Luz is about to become the focus of yet another great detective game,
Wait till September, high holiday season, and draw holiday makers' attention to Paedo***s, predators, dead perverts, tractormen, ones wearing strange T shirts.
remind holiday makers that they cannot even trust the cleaners who come round, and possibly not even the child minders
tell the world that the bin men and handimen are all actually waiting for them to leave their children alone. . .
Don't bother telling people that in the 10 years before there was not a single abduction of anyone, and in the 7 years after there has, equally not been one.
Just keep the fear factor going and keep people chucking money into the Fund.
can you blame the people for being way beyond merely cynical.
It was said that "Doing a McCann" had entered the urban street vocabulary in English.

Re: McCann - is now a substitute for the Bogeyman in Portugal
Didn't the mayor of Luz comment fairly recently that the attention is hurting the tourist trade the locals rely on? The expats shown on the news were totally fed up of all the fuss that starts every year in May. I don't blame them. It looks lovely from the pictures, but now it will forever have that stigma attached to it.

If you Googled 'Urban Dictionary' and put the M word in, you used to get more than half a dozen tastelessly amusing definitions. Don't know if they have been whooshed by now.

No need for apology. The entire subject is so distasteful, whatever happened, whatever is the solution, aquila wrote:aaah now I see what you're getting at PeterMac. Apologies, my mistake.
that "black Humour:" is the only way to keep sane.
The good people of PdL, who spent days SEARCHING for a child reported missing, are now having their seasons ruined,
not just once, but every year, and increasingly over the last couple since the Met started digging around looking for human remains,
whilst the McCanns sit at home, having enjoyed a prolonged free holiday and millions of pounds, never having done a stroke to try to find their daughter
leeching off the rich and nearly famous, suing anyone who fails to find the story totally convincing, and who then dares to say so
and so on and nauseatingly on.
"McCann-ism" a FACT which is in total contradiction to another FACT. The essential point about a McCann-ism is that you are required to believe BOTH simultaneously.
Failure to do so can attract fines and imprisonment.

And if you were 'lucky' enough to have had a job at the Ocean Club Tapas Bar on that fateful night, you were effectively 'sacked' and bullied into silence too. No good deed goes unpunished: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOidpDzY-Js

Curious stuff if the lady in piece is accurate with her timings.
First : the alarm she says was around 9.30pm ( I think the Tapas bar Manager said the same?)
Was Mrs Fenn one hour ahead for some reason - she said 10.30pm.
Two: She says the children were given their teas at between 4.00 and 4.30 pm.
Then the parents would come to pick them up at around 5pm.
The inference from the three times to myself is that 10pm is the semi-official time of the alarm.
The other inference is that it was the nannies who may have given the children their High Tea
BEFORE? the parents signed them out. It doesn't fit with the testimony of the parents.
Remembering that the lady was the person who probably prepared and served the teas as well as the
evening meal on the night of the 3rd. No ordinary passing witness.
Opinion though. That's all.

Strange there wasn't some sort of CCTV system in operation around the Tapas Bar or even the resort. I would have thought a resort like the OC would have been fully kitted out with one, even in 2007.

Some other countries, and some in the UK too, consider CCTV an assault on personal liberty... You know, innocent people being spied on kind of thing. There is something in that. I can understand it, but in this case it would have been sooooooo useful!

I believe there were/are very few cameras in Portugal. I remember reading that it was something to do with privacy laws.Brian Griffin wrote:Strange there wasn't some sort of CCTV system in operation around the Tapas Bar or even the resort. It's funny to us because we are so used to having them everywhere we go in this country and they certainly have their uses.

Wow, could you imagine being a worker there and witnessing the extended family playing in the pool and renting the tennis courts? Something tells me if they had had them, they would have developed a convenient malfunction on the night in question. Just my opinion.comperedna wrote:Some other countries, and some in the UK too, consider CCTV an assault on personal liberty... You know, innocent people being spied on kind of thing. Want to feel even sicker? If yo watch the same video, at 3:50 you'll see a few seconds of footage of Gerry, unaware he was being filmed, taken a week or so after the disappearance I believe. He seems in rather good spirits to me. Just my opinion, but that's what I see.palm tree wrote:Wow, could you imagine being a worker there and witnessing the extended family playing in the pool and renting the tennis courts? Agree Brian, if someone didn't know the circumstances, one could also say he was having a good holiday IMO

I had always read about GM's remark "ask the dogs, Sandra", but while watching some video footage on youtube (connected to the video posted on this thread) I have just seen it for myself for the first time...wow...that smirk as he says it is chilling.

Check out the smirk when he's asked if someone says to him I'm sure I seen Madeleine, I know it was her, to me, that duping delight smirk tells me he knows exactly what happened, exactly where she is and that no one will find her. Sick. Can't post the link but I'm sure you know what one I'm talking about.
